چکیده

In order to achieve interoperabiliiy among heterogeneous systems, markup languages such as XML and DAML are being used to describe distributed systems and data. The abiliiy lo successfully interoperate based on semantic markup depend on the abiliiy to create, use and manage shared onfologies of concepts and !heir interrelationships. Specifically, communicating systems in a nehvorked environment have to achieve a certain level of semanfic agreement for them to understand and process exchanged data. A challenging question is how deep the semantic agreement has to be in order to satisjj !he communication needs in an environment. Additionally, whaf is the markup complexity resulting from pursuing that depth of semanfic agreement? This paper introduces the concept of semantic depfh and markup complexity and proposes models fo measure the markup complexity. Furthermore, it is shown that markup complexity can be reduced by employing hierarchical ontologies after partitioning the domain into smaller sub-domains.

Investigating the mechanism of the void's physical-semantic effect on social interactions

The depth of the void concept has extended the range of its effects from philosophy to various sciences and even types of art. In architecture, due to the importance of the spacing effect and architectural components on behavior, void finds a different role that seems to be less addressed in contemporary architecture. If void, regardless of its hidden meaning, is referred to as "empty space," a...

The Symbiosis of Human and Semantic Technology Through the Lens of Actor-Network Theory

Background:  Semantic technologies (STs) have made machine reasoning possible by providing intelligent data management methods. This capability has created new forms of interaction between humans and STs, which is called "semantic interaction."  The increasing spread of this form of interaction in daily life reveals the need to identify the factors affecting it and introduce the requirements of...
